Doctrine and Covenants, Section 93, Part 3

Verses 21-22 of Section 93 contain a statement and a promise. They read, “And now, verily I say unto you, I was in the beginning with the Father, and am the Firstborn; And all those who are begotten through me are partakers of the glory of the same, and are the church of the Firstborn.”

This is yet another indication that the blessings the Father gives to Christ are available to each of us when we are begotten through Christ. This spiritual rebirth begins at baptism, which is a token of a covenant. The covenants that follow are the continuation from spiritual birth to spiritual maturation. Being a member of the church of the Firstborn affords those who are accepted by the Lord because they have been transformed into a new creature, all the glory associated with it. This transformation is accomplished as we learn to accept grace through the covenants we keep. Paul spoke about this glory in 2 Corinthians 3:18, saying that we are changed into the image of Christ.

These concepts are not fully understood or accepted literally by mainstream Christians. As I have mentioned before and will continue to point out, the revelation given to Joseph Smith is pure light. We don’t have to struggle in misinterpretations and misunderstanding of scripture if we follow Joseph Smith and his successors in their prophetic utterances.

That is all for today. Next will be a discussion on truth, intelligence, agency, and existence itself.
