Salvation Through Christ

I hope all is well with you. Today finds us all continuing to be in our homes, still unable to meet together.

As I was reading the scriptures from this week’s Come Follow Me lesson, this phrase from Mosiah 2:5 stood out to me, “every family being separate one from another.” I thought that was appropriate for our current situation.

King Benjamin’s address to his people has always been one of my favorite parts of scripture for several reasons. Foremost among them is verse 17 “And moreover, I say unto you, that there shall be no other name given nor any other way nor means whereby salvation can come unto the children of men, only in and through the name of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent.”

Many of you have heard me say I consider that the three big questions of life are not: Where do I come from?, Why am I here?, Where am I going?, but rather: Who am I?, Who is God?, and How does the Atonement of Christ bring us together?

The teachings of King Benjamin provide many great insights into these questions. He starts with this bold declaration:

“I have not commanded you to come up hither to trifle with the words which I shall speak, but that you should hearken unto me, and open your ears that ye may hear, and your hearts that ye may understand, and your minds that the mysteries of God may be unfolded to your view.”

I encourage you to read and ponder the profound truths and insights taught in Mosiah chapters 1-3.

I hoped to share all of my thoughts as I read them, but I typed so slowly that it would be next week before I could finish.

Until next week, I encourage us all to be optimistic and faithful. Take advantage of this time to prepare and plan so that when we can resume more regular activity, we will be better than before.
